I owe a lot to Giant Robot - they have been an amazingly supportive entity of independent artists and I have had the opportunity over the years to participate in numerous gallery shows in their New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles locations. GR started as a magazine - and still is - and like many other publications they have been hit hard by the recession. The magazine is in some serious financial trouble, recently they put up a website where they are accepting donations. So - to do my part, however small, I am putting up this Sleepy Owl piece up for sale and all proceeds will go towards a donation to Giant Robot. Hopefully I won’t embarrass myself and one of you will be willing to purchase it! Send me an email if interested to make further arrangements.
Sleepy Owl is cut paper mounted on white painted wood, measures 5″ x 7″. Price $65, including shipping. Sold! Thanks so much to Daisy Ha and Sam Kim! Other original cut paper art is available on my Etsy shop right here.

Here’s a mockup of my Chirping Birds case for Uncommon, a print-on-demand iPhone case company. Click here to check out the rest of the Artist Series artwork from Uncommon… They selected some great artists to work with like Jill Bliss, Jenny Hart, Saelee Oh, and Sian Keegan to name a few!

I can’t believe I was in New York for 3 exciting days and did not take any pictures! It was a great trip - I was at Printsource at the Lilla Rogers booth with Lilla and Susan and artists Jillian Phillips and Susy Pilgrim Waters. It was so great to spend time chatting with all of them as well as meeting so many interesting people from different companies that I love and admire! I have so many new ideas and projects I want to work on that my head is spinning. My husband Eric came with me on the trip and in the evenings we got to spend some much needed time with best friends and eat some amazing food. I had one of the best meals EVER at Caravan of Dreams - a vegan/vegetarian restaurant on the corner of 1st ave and 6th st.
Above is a peek at a new t-shirt design I put into a digital mock-up - trying to decide whether or not to get it printed! Anyone else out there a Southpaw (aka Left-handed)?
EDIT: Southpaw is up for scoring now on Threadless! Click here to vote!

I wish everyone the best this holiday season - I will be busy spending time with family, finishing up new work for Printsource in January and playing hours and hours of Super Mario Bros (on my new Wii)! I will be back blogging (on a much more regular basis) after the new year!

Ack, this blog has been SO neglected lately, I am in full swing of my busy season that is slowly coming to an end over the next week or so. This past weekend was the biggest hurdle to get over: two craft shows and two art openings. I think I may have to get my head examined to figure out why I committed myself to all of these things on basically the same day. Oh, and throw in an illustration deadline or two in there the week leading up…
Over the weekend was the opening for both the Craftland Holiday Show in Providence (I have written about my love for Craftland here) as well as the Bazaar Bizarre in Boston. Total mania getting everything together in time with a new display and new product, but in the end totally fun and totally worth it! I could not have done the Bazaar Bizarre without the help of my wonderful friends (and talented illustrators) Andrea and Nathan who helped me at the booth all day long. We all got to talk to some of the other amazing crafters, I was so happy to meet Sarah of The Small Object as well as Heidi of My Paper Crane, and fellow Lilla Rogers illustrator Jenn Ski. I have been a huge fan of all of these ladies for such a long time, it was fantastic to get to meet them all in person.
On to the art shows: I am a part of a group show at Giant Robot New York with fellow RISD alum Julia Rothman, Jing Wei and Daria Tessler. I was so sad that I couldn’t make it down for the opening, I love the work of all the artists in the show. If you are in NYC the show will be up until January 13th, please check it out, pics and artwork for sale should be up soon on the GRNY website.
I also contributed some drawings to the Post-It show at GR2 in Los Angeles, which is an awesome and amazing annual group show curated by Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson. It is a great chance to get some affordable art for the holidays - every Post-It is priced at $20, and you can get some really great art from a huge variety of artists. The show is up now through January 13th. To get a better idea of the sheer volume of post-its, check out this video from last year’s show.
My final event of the season is this coming Friday, December 11th at the Pinkcomma Gallery in Boston - I am participating in a one-night-only group show, Design Nearby: Big Print, Little Print. The focus is on local print artists selling originals and editions of all different medias and sizes. It should be a fun time!
Stay tuned for more updates this week, I have tons of new work to share!

I recently got the chance to work on this super fun project designing patterns for the Keds Collective website! The shoes are print-on-demand, available on the web only. Click here to see my whole collection!
Things have been busy, my apologies for the light posting. I have lots to share, just haven’t gotten the chance to get my head together! My husband’s record label, Anchor Brain, released their first two releases this past week and we have been busy assembling posters and LP’s, very exciting.
Illustrator link of the week: Girls Who Draw : Menagerie, a limited-edition post card book featuring the work of 11 lovely illustrators. I ordered my copy this week from Mary Kilvert, can’t wait to get it in the mail!

A recent cover illustration for Providence Monthly magazine…This was a fun one to work on, I loved being able to combine lettering, texture, pattern, and people.
I’m so happy it’s the weekend - I have a lot of work to do for a new and exciting project, I will hopefully be able to share the details soon! Also, for anyone in the RI area, tomorrow (Saturday) is the RISD Alumni and Student sale - I will be unveiling a new button and hopefully a new bag style (depends on how late I can stay up tonight!) So come visit me on Benefit St. from 10am to 4pm.
Illustrator link of the week: Just stumbled across the work of London-based illustrator Christiane Engel, she has a super cute style and an impressive body of work.
