Ack, this blog has been SO neglected lately, I am in full swing of my busy season that is slowly coming to an end over the next week or so. This past weekend was the biggest hurdle to get over: two craft shows and two art openings. I think I may have to get my head examined to figure out why I committed myself to all of these things on basically the same day. Oh, and throw in an illustration deadline or two in there the week leading up…
Over the weekend was the opening for both the Craftland Holiday Show in Providence (I have written about my love for Craftland here) as well as the Bazaar Bizarre in Boston. Total mania getting everything together in time with a new display and new product, but in the end totally fun and totally worth it! I could not have done the Bazaar Bizarre without the help of my wonderful friends (and talented illustrators) Andrea and Nathan who helped me at the booth all day long. We all got to talk to some of the other amazing crafters, I was so happy to meet Sarah of The Small Object as well as Heidi of My Paper Crane, and fellow Lilla Rogers illustrator Jenn Ski. I have been a huge fan of all of these ladies for such a long time, it was fantastic to get to meet them all in person.
On to the art shows: I am a part of a group show at Giant Robot New York with fellow RISD alum Julia Rothman, Jing Wei and Daria Tessler. I was so sad that I couldn’t make it down for the opening, I love the work of all the artists in the show. If you are in NYC the show will be up until January 13th, please check it out, pics and artwork for sale should be up soon on the GRNY website.
I also contributed some drawings to the Post-It show at GR2 in Los Angeles, which is an awesome and amazing annual group show curated by Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson. It is a great chance to get some affordable art for the holidays - every Post-It is priced at $20, and you can get some really great art from a huge variety of artists. The show is up now through January 13th. To get a better idea of the sheer volume of post-its, check out this video from last year’s show.
My final event of the season is this coming Friday, December 11th at the Pinkcomma Gallery in Boston - I am participating in a one-night-only group show, Design Nearby: Big Print, Little Print. The focus is on local print artists selling originals and editions of all different medias and sizes. It should be a fun time!
Stay tuned for more updates this week, I have tons of new work to share!
